new consumer cancer resource

Cancer.net, from the American society of clinical oncology provides consumer information on more than 120 cancer topics. The webpage is appealing and free of ads. There are podcasts as well as text and materials are searchable by keyword and arranged in broad categories, such as
  • cancer type
  • coping
  • survivorship
  • advocacy
  • library
  • news
Check it out, there is a great depth of content here, though much of the material is presented at a very high reading level. While you are there, look at this cool patient education resource:

The Cancer.Net Slide Deck Series is based on the Cancer.Net Guides to Cancer and provides reliable, oncologist-approved cancer information in a turn-key Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. These slide decks are intended for oncologists, oncology nurses, and other health-care team members with prepared presentations for patient and community group lectures. To download a presentation, right-click on a link below, choose the "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" option, and pick a destination to store this presentation on your computer.
